Position Overview
IMG is seeking a proactive Fabricator Welder Leading Hand/Supervisor for our Devonport client’s facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong welding and fabrication background with leadership experience. You’ll oversee a small team, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include monitoring job progress, ensuring staff have necessary materials, tools, and information, and meeting deadlines as directed by the Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist to develop and lead and supervise a team of fabricators and welders, ensuring productivity, quality compliance and safety on-site
  • Lead teams to remove damaged and corroded materials and equipment
  • Lead teams to install, weld and fabricate new materials and equipment
  • Fabricate and assemble both ferrous and non-ferrous components and structures based on detailed blueprints and specifications.
  • Work with the business unit supervisor and manager to fully understand work plans and job requirements for the day and allocation of resources.
  • Conduct inspections of welded surfaces and structures to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Understand the high level of detail required by the clients to ensure compliance with all externally driven requirements
  • Provide training and mentorship to welders and fabricators, ensuring they adhere to best practices.
  • Monitor the condition of welding equipment and tools, ensuring proper maintenance and functionality.
  • Promote safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Communicate with project managers and other departments to ensure that project requirements and timelines are met.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Fabricator Welder with leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team to achieve project goals.
  • Ability to qualify for relevant welding certifications and qualifications are a necessity
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift heavy objects as required for welding and fabrication.
  • Strong focus on precision, quality, and safety in all aspects of work.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and work varying hours as required.
